Batty for Stellaluna

As I'm sure most parents have heard we just completed a book study over the book Stellaluna,, as well as incorporating some nonfiction texts over bats into our Reading block.  Here are some pictures of activities that have done in class and links to other bat resources that we have enjoyed!

Here is our class bat cave.  Stellaluna is full of rich vocabulary so we spent our two weeks focusing on these words and acting out as many as we could!  We have two different bats on our cave.  The flying bats featured summaries of the beginning, middle, and end of the book.  The hanging bats are the story elements of the book (Title, Author, Setting, Problem, and Solution).

This is our story map.  We included illustrations from the class for our story elements.

We also featured Stellaluna as our Book Character Pumpkin in the library.  Three students' files of exemplary work were left in the library on display during the contest!

We had so much fun learning about bats!  If your child would like to continue working with Stellaluna and bats, here are 2 links.
